I still recommend Avast to anyone who uses the free virus scanners. However, with Avast's latest version (4.8) I started getting BSODs. I went to their forums and there is some issues with 4.8 and some people getting BSODs. I have installed Avast 4.8 on other computers and they seem fine. Go figure. I have since uninstalled Avast and will wait until a couple versions later to see if they have worked out the kinks. I am running with no virus scanner and am wondering if I even need it. I don't visit shady sites, look for cracks for programs, open every e-mail attachment, or go to every site in an e-mail forward. I have a firewall, Spybot Search & Destroy (I love that name!
), and AdAware. I may redownload Avast in the future, but for now I don't see the need.
