I try to apply the same standard, regardless of country. If someone had posted a topic "Typical Austrian behaviour" about the whacko who kept his daughter in the basement for 17 years and bore 4 children with her, I would have zapped that as well. It really doesn't serve our community to generalize like that. |
Well, yes, and that's quite right.
However, this topic title was not a generalization.
It just said that there was something stupid from the US and, arguably, there was.
I did not say "America is stupid" or "All Americans are stupid" or "this is typically American".
It just said one American made something stupid.
It made no genraliseation. I don't see ho that is unfair.
