Yes, you can go faster in shallow water but you may die very quickly when you are off the Irish or Welsh coasts and hit one of those shallow sea mounds at x128.

Additionally, the game gets confused if you run this one up too high. Of course, some folks might like the sound of the diving alarm going on, and on, and on....

*CharacterAnim=128 this is your guys standing watch on the bridge or in the control room. Higher numbers may cause the video frame rate to drop.

*EnemyDetected=1 *any* sound contact will drop you back to TC1.

*RadioReport=1 This a message to you or to the fleet from BDU It is NOT a radio contact report from another boat or from BDU. The game is not "contact aware". You can make them linger longer on the screen or make them appear farther away but you cannot get them to drop you out of uber-TC.

*Particles=32 this the max TC speed that you will see smoke, fire, etc from the periscope, bridge, or the free camera (F12). By setting this low (TC x8) it allows you to run the "3DRender" at a much higher TC speed without compromising the video frame rate.

I'm glad you are backed up. I have a complete copy of a virgin stock game in my SH3 folder. Then, anything I blow up can be restored back to original. I have had to restore whole sections of the game when I have modded too far, didn't do an incremental backup, and a roll-back didn't work.
