A last point. Once i continued a previous career with a new commander and it gave me a type IIA boat (date summer of 1940). When i started the game the conning tower of the boat was that of the previous boat (type VIIB) and it was placed the other way round: the UZO was looking the stern and the flack gun the bow! Does this have to do with SH3Cmdr? I couldn't figure out why this had happened.

When you click "continue career with a new commander" you have to check that it gives you the right boat. If your old commander was in an IX called U-65, and it generates a new commander in (for example) a II called U-125,
do not launch the game! Go back to your old commander and click the "continue career with a new commander" button again and check the type and U-boat number again. Sometimes you have to do this several times before it gives you the right boat. It's a small quirk and easy to work-around (as I just described) once you know about it.
