Default Sound Tests on a Real Fleet Boat

To add realism for visitors visiting the USS Batfish, we set up speakers with sub-woofers in the engine rooms to simulate the engines running. We have it loud enough that you're ears almost want to bleed and the visitors don't stay in that area for very long. The sub-woofers also vibrate the deck plates, which is a nice touch. We've had people ask us if the engines were really running. :p

Anyway, if you walk forward of the forward engine room through the bath area and into the crew's berthing, the engine noise is a faint hum. If you walk forward into the crew's mess, the noise disappears.

In August we want to have large speakers under the deck also playing engine exhaust noises and bow wave noises. This will be for a living history event - VJ Day. I will make note of how loud/audible the exhaust and wave noises are from the CT and the CR. My guess is that it will be pretty muffled in the control room. We're thinking that this is mainly due to cork lining the hull.

So, my plan for my copy of the game is to edit the internal engine noise way down so that it is barely audible.
