Did you read the second link I posted? It details how to achieve analog scaling under vista with a screen at the same resolution as yours. Chances are it'll only be 1-2-1 pixel mapping, so you'll end up with a 1280x1024 image in the middle of your screen, however it's better than paying for a solution.
