keep in mind though that this is because people are eager and interested in your mod. compare this 'enforced silence because we're working' to a situation where you take all the time you need and release your mod only for NOONE to play it.
I think players posting what they'd like shows that there's interest in what you're doing - just ignore it and concentrate on what you're doing - at the end of the day, its not for you - its for the community (ie. those users who are putting forward requests). because if it wasn't, why would you release it in the first place?
note: this is not meant to be a flame or anything - i have much respect for guys who take the time to learn the inner workings of this awesome game to produce something which I've been eagerly awaiting for years. This is just to put the argument into perspective. Rock on!!
