I think the most important thing to gather from there and other recent threads is that it is very inappropiate to make requests for your pet ship of the moment. Obviously, a modder is going to be directed first and foremost by their own interests. If they wanted to make their decisions on how they spend their time based on community popularity, I'm sure they would start a thread or a poll.

No more [REQ] for surface ships. Either do it yourself or wait and see what the current producers decide to work on next. I suspect it is these threads that are generating some angst and fueling negative discussions.

It would probably make more sense to focus energy on overcoming some of the huge barriers to surface ship gameplay in SH4 (which may be insurmountable and therefore a big disincentive to indulging requests), rather than on seeing how many new ships can fit into the "garage."
