I do that all the time when I play Ace Combat Six.
When I start my manager modes in the newest iteration of FIFA, I always have a 'scouting cheat sheet' of all the under-19 players in the game. I do this because I'm very picky about realism in my sports games, and the game 'generates' ersatz players as the manager mode progresses. I also write down the final table at the end of each season as well.
