Don't know what you're missing, man.
I've started out every career but two with an S-class, and while they're not as formidable as the fleet boats, they are...fun and different. Besides, there's always that nice 'underdog' angle with 'em...which makes slamming four Mk 10's into the side of an
Ise-class battleship with one...so very very sweet.
As to the original post: Hard to answer. I don't usually think in terms of 'class', I think in terms of how attached I get to the sub over the course of the career. Right now, the
Seadragon is taking top honors, so I guess my answer is Sargo...
