Right. Bottoming the boat with forward motion (any kind of motion) or with a lot of vertical speed will cause a huge a amount of damage.

Try stopping the boat. hover just a couple of feet about the bottom and then settle it down.

Thats what i do. Not that i bottom the boat all that often. Not something i particuarly like to do since

a.) It doesnt fool the AI
b.) Depth charges have no where to go but right on you.

I suspect that if its not a stock issue, then its an issue with reduced hitpoints. Subs in TM do infact have half the hitpoints of stock, and 5 or 10 less armor , i forget exactly, but in stock, some capital warships have those kind of statistics. That had to change.

If we had an acutal boyancy model aside from neutral, i might be more concerned about bottoming the boat, but since all they do is hover, its really not an issue. You could hover 1 to 2 feet off the bottom without any problem at all.
