Yes it is for real

I just did what real Kaleuns did

, although having experience as sailor (Like they had) and seeing a real ship of course would help refining the data. I suspected it would be around 140-150 metres long, the huge simplification of the formula I use for the "53" divider is of course not perfect, but seems close enough for a "fixed wire" speed measurement

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to add: The ship shown in the real picture by AOTD_MadMax is much smaller. I count only three cargo bays, so again the formula would be 1500x2 + approx 1000 = 4000
4000/53= Roughly 75 metres
My guess for the ship in the pic would be then:
4000 tons
Bridge= 10 metres
Mast= 30 metres
75 metres length
15-17 knots
