The messages in GWX are actual historical messages and are there only to add to the experience. There are loads of (actual historical) messages from other boats as well indicating sinking and convoy reports.
If you think seeing messages sent from you to you wait until you get a message that you're sunk (in the case of U99 at some point in Early 1941)
