She won!

She is divorced now and looks forward to go to school again. The article says that there is no minimum age for marriage in Jemen in general. Wether the claims the father made at court (the to-be-husband having kidnapped and married another girl before, and having threatened to kidnap girls from the father's familiy as well) are believable or not, is open, imo. He said he never had beaten the girl, and said the girl agreed voluntarily to marry that old pervert - while the girl claims exactly the opposite.
That girl showed courage and character to confront her offender and even her own parents and family at court. That is why I am so impressed that I had started this thread on her. I would not be surprised if we hear from her again once she has grown up.
P.S. second, more complex view:

It popints out that she girl has violated the family and tribe's honour and that her life is at risk now. Execution of juveniles and children are still common practice in Jemen, although in theory forbidden by state's law. The offender already has said nobody could take her away from him. Friends of the family said it would be very difficult to protect the girl from her family and the pervert as well who still sits in prison, while the father already has been released. The article said that the behavior of the judge probably is even more outrageous (by Jemenite standards) than what the girl dared to do.
