I was given a $25 dollar gift certificate for Christmas 2006 & in January '07 I saw SH3 on sale downtown for $19.99. So it ended up costing me about 5 bucks (bus fare over there and back). For $5 you can't lose

& with all the excellent mods that have been released the game gets better all the time.
I don't think that I'll be getting SH4 though as the Pacific theatre doesn't hold any interest for me, even with the add-on.
