I'd like to keep up the work, but that is where my ability and know how ends.

My best guess is that the trigger that calls for the sound file to play got wiped out or has a syntax error in it. The game recognizes the ship is there on the hydrophone as it's sinking (the green light lights up, you can ping it and get a return) and you can hear the breaking up sound on the surface, but the correct sound doesn't play for the hydrophone after patch 1.3, but it does work in 1.0. The problem does not appear to be one caused by sh.sdl as far as I can tell because everything looked identical for this sound.

That's all I've got to go on so unless someone can suggest some files to crack open to search for what is going on, I don't have a clue what to look for next.
