Default My First Patrol

Yesterday I started a new career and went out to sea for my first patrol.
On the evening of the first day I was detected by an airplane. I couldnt make out what country its from so continued on my course.

Within the next 2 hours I got attacked by 2 airplanes dropping DC unto my boat damaging it slightly and one of my sailors died cause of the attack. I was forced to crashdive with ym young crew and repaired the damage.

After that excitment I attacked a single merchant ship, but it took me 3 torpedoes and shells to bring it down (just rusty of playing the game).

I was abit pissed off at myself for "waisting" so many torpedos. Then within 4 hours I saw another heavy merchant creeping along so I told myself this time do it right.

I was extra careful setting up shot and I choose "magnetic" 2 meters below the ships keel. "Bullseye" the torpedo went right under the ship and because of the force ripped the ship in half (this was utter satisfaction and I rejoiced as an armchair kaleun) .

Then sasified with such a fine "marksman shot" I turned on time compression racing towards my assigned grid, when I bumped into a large convoy.

But because I used high time compression, I had no time to prepare or setup an attack since one of the 5 destroyers picked up my signal and steamed straight to my position.

To make matters worse the ocean floor was only 130 meters deep. I crashdived and creeping along at 120 meters and 3 destroyers are like angry bees trying to sink me.

I must say the AI is pretty good. One destroyer is making an attack run and the other 2 are listening and follow shortly after the first destroyer finished his attack run.

I have taken some damage, but I am trying to evade, flank speed then silent running, its a delicate matter. If I run to long at flank speed I get picked up again if I run to shorth the DC hit too close to my liking.

I saved the game since I needed some sleep, but what a first patrol. I love it .

Even though the game is a few years old I still love the thrill of the hunt and being hunted in a beatiful rendered ocean, weather and ships.
