In the German version of the game they say "Der Feind hat uns in der Ortung", which means something like "The enemy knows where we are". So I guess the interpretation of this is really, there is a good chance that the enemy has got a contact on us. Fair enough, as actually you could never 100% know, what the guys up there know or think to know.. Therefore, take the "They are pinging us" as a serious warning sign that thing might get loud around you...
