What I have found sofar; it seems to me that the Japanese Radar emission detection was mediocre at best. I think what most US skippers did, was project their own knowledge about radar on the enemy. Thus giving the enemy more credit than what they really deserved.
In other books you find the same thinking pattern (I think Silent Running, and Thunder Below have some remarks about it).
Problem is that you cannot put a thing like this in the game. The US skippers were convinced that the Japanese could pick up their radar, whereas in reality it (IMO) most of the time (have to be careful here..) wasn't there. Now, if that's true, you cannot put this in a game.
Now that's the reality. What the Devs put in the game to 'simulate' this...
