I found the node in
/Library/Characters/Sailors.dat. The Japanese officer is
char_JPNOffc and the American one is
char_AMOffc. It's the file from where the game calls all the animated crew member nodes (there's some others there that aren't currently in use by the game, such as the ones toward the end).
