I also get about 2-3 rifle platoons. I am going up against at least 2 platoons of Tiger IIs probably another two platoons of infantry, with sime Panzer IIIs, IVs and Panthers added in as well. My T-34s can't touch the tigers, and they can't get close enough because as soon as they are detected the tigers take them out with their 88s.

Yeah, i've noticed the game likes to dump virtually impossible odds on top of the player at times. And every now and then, it feels like the AI gets in some annoying cheap shot and takes out your best SPG in one hit.
But I applaud it for the taking the seldom used realism approach these days. Also interesting to note that the game was built on the Il-2 Sturmovik engine, which probably helped to cut costs.
