Even the Delta Flyer will still behave according to the physics model, which is very well done, so you have to bear in mind it will in no way fly like an X-Wing from Star Wars. Try to think of it more as a very advanced Space Shuttle.
It's kind of tough getting the hang of it, even more so if you're not that inclined towards physics and geometries, but that first time you succeed in making a flawless orbital insertion and re-entry can feel as satisfying as sinking HMS Hood in SH3.
Some of the more fun things to try is a "what-if" scenario with manned missions to Mars to establish permanent bases.
People who play 1xTC SH3 are creampuffs compared to the nuts that play Orbiter at 1xTC. :p
