Usually, this is caused by residual files from an old driver set. Follow nVidia removal instructions and/or use the driver removal tool. Reboot, Reinstall the latest drivers.
In this instance, you may have been given a message (during install of the card) saying "The file you are attempting to install is older than the version currently in use" Do you wish to overwrite the newer version?"
ALWAYS answer yes.
