You don't have to do anything with your config files. Just don't hit the "solution" button in the WO station.
I like that the WO station has a separate button for ID ship and another one for solution. This gives you the choice whether to use the WO for the solution or not. I rarely use the WO for solutions but I like having the choice to use him if I am trying to take out some fast moving escorts (especially those that are moving fast to kill me)
I have downloaded OLC and it looks interesting. I have not enabled it as I am just getting to the end of the war in my current career (assuming that I can survive my next mission that is).
When I start over, I will give OLC a good try. It looks interesting and I am assuming it is more realistic as to what tools Uboats had.
