I didn't know this. Please don't say it's in the manual.:p
Regardless, GWX 2.0 is only assigning the player 500 Renown when starting a new career. I know because it irks me when I can't fully man my boat.
EDIT - Using SH3 Cmdr, if that makes a difference.
