Hi!
That could explain what happened. Saving and restarting in or anywhere near a port causes all of the AI-controlled ships & aircraft in the port to forget their pre-planned movement paths, so they just keep going in a straight line. The general result is that ships and aircraft collide with whatever is in front of them: the shore, another ship or aircraft,
etc.
