It is, but the so called DX10 only options can be turned on in DX9 (surprise surprise). THat is what I am refering to. DX10 really gives you no real graphical quality enhancement over DX9. Its a marketing ploy. It has two things that seperate it apart from DX9 - it is easier to program for (Or should I say, it is possible to be more lazy and write bigger bloat), and it has later pixel shaders that really don't look any different than DX9's(something you would really need a microscope to see the diff on this vs DX9 pixel shaders). Its new memory bus archtecture was removed as a requirement and so there is no real reason it can't be back ported to XP either. It is simply hanging out there as an excuse for MS to get you to buy the Crappy Vista OS.
ALl and all, DX10 is a big whoop! Nothing neat about it.
