Oh, god. Thinking of radar in gwx 2.0 reminds me of a nasty little experience i had about 20 mins ago. I was shadowing a convoy in heavy rain, at night. I knew roughly which way there were going, so I tried skirt the edge by about 15km, to be safe. All's well in 64x when 'Ship spotted - bearing 188, short range'. Sweat squirts out of every available orifice. I swing around and see a FRIGATE, not 200m away. It's not firing, no lights, it's just steadily gaining - creeping - up on me. Crash dive. Stern tube zero gyro - FIRE. I follow the torpedo with external cam. It goes directly under the Frigate - perfect. Except for the failsafe - 200m is not enough to activate the pistol. PRANG - the torpedo gets slapped by a prop. I get some DC damage to the stern torpedo room, but given the ****ty weather, i slink off withouth too much trouble.

Anyway, i'd also like to know about the safe radar radius. It's probably at least 20km or so. Whenever I try my 15km technique (in clear weather) I get a nosey escort coming out and checking.
