can listen to your torpedo on the hydrophone after it is fired... it will sound like a medium - high pitched whine.
if the torpedo seems to be changing it's bearing rapidly (and you didnt fire at a target that would warrant a rapid course change) that means you have a circle runner... but it is not that common, and usually only occurs after firing an acoustic torpedo.
