I'm not a super religious person but sometimes the accurancy of those writings can be scary.

One Biblical reference kind of along those lines is *Men's hearts failing them for fear* (Revelations somewhere). Doesn't exactly corelate to school shooting but it sure fits the Fear that seems to be pervasive anymore: Fear that is the product of real events, perceived threats and something intangilble that just seems to be hanging in the air like fog.
I won't disagree with anyone's post in this thread (at least so far :hmm
because everything that's been stated is correct from a certain perspective. The reality is, these school shootings (and violent crime in general) are becoming more & more common place. And it Sucks.
Legislating this kind of thing away ain't gonna happen. It'll take a cultural shift to do it. Probably not something we'll see real soon...
