I'd recommend Letters From Iwo Jima, directed by Clint Eastwood. Far better than its counterpart, Flags of Our Fathers, Letters From Iwo Jima tells the story of the battle from the Japanese point of view. It's gripping to the end. One scene that will forever be etched in my mind: A Japanese soldier emerges from his cave after the days of being barraged and looks out to sea.
