And yes, you do have to hang around and make sure the ship sinks, especially in shallow water. Its better off destroying your targets outright in port to avoid difficulties and
almost assure credit.
Of course you could always hang about waiting in 20m of water with DDs an Trawlers steaming all around in a feeding frenzy.
..and hope your target drowns fast...
