My experience (with RSRDC) is that the ports do get captured.

I first discovered this with Manila. It was my home base...when I returned from patrol I sailed all the way into the port and even berthed..waited...Nothing happened. No "EndPatrol" or "Refit" Option Pop-Up. Someone on the Forums told me that Manila was probably under air attack (I did see a Jap acft fly over heading to Manila while I was just outside the port).

I sailed on to Surabaya,Java (without being ordered to do so). I nursed my fuel and finally made it. I could not "End patrol", though, but I did re-fit and, as best I can recall, got orders to go out NW to the Karimata Straits Patrol Area. I headed that way...never made it as I spent a lot of time enroute chasing convoys off Java, found LOTS of IJN ships, merchants, cruisers...HUGE convoy of maybe 30-40 ships. Sunk a few...missed too many... I sailed around for quite a while then headed back when I ran out of torps...When I got to Surabaya, it wasn't there...No anchor Icon on the map as best I can recall. I was definitely not offered any options to refit or end patrol. Soooo, once again I headed off nursing fuel all the way to Freemantle which I had seen on my Map was now showing the slanted anchor as my new Home Base. I was able to End Patrol there. I had never noticed the Anchor icons (slant versus vertical differences) until this last patrol....I had also been simply following orders as to what Port to go to/transfer to...never noticed the changing anchor icon.
