Now I have tried both admin. and compatibility mode, separate and together. Still no luck. What have I messed up, dunno.
Next thing I'll try is start again totally fm beginning, I mean uninstalling the game, patching and so on.
Big guestion: Should I somehow run the game in compatibility mode too? It's just I can't find how to do it. I have done that before with other games and with XP - no problems. It is just I can't find how to do it with vista.

I run SHIV and all the goodies via JSGME on Vista with no problems at all. However I do have UAC turned off, that resolves all problems as far as I can tell as long as you are prepared to take the plunge, but I have been running Vista ultimate 32 bit for a year now with UAC off and I have not had one issue at all.
