Funny you should say about the power, I was just talking to a South African friend of mine at work the other day about it, well, she was the one who told me about the current problem, I could barely believe what I was hearing!
I didn't realise things had gotten so bad!
She said that you were having power lotteries now, that a town is picked at random and then the power cut off for up to 7 hours at a time
I mean, I know South Africa is a big place, but the administration had over ten years warning that they needed to spend money on the power system...but then again, I guess that's what corruption does
