Some of us just don't have that level of self control. I wanted this exact same mod when I started playing, so I made it. I never released it though.
pino69, removing the shortcuts bar isn't enough in itself - you also need to add all the missing "go back" functions as there are several screens (e.g. the UZO) which you can't get out of in the default setup.
Fortunately this has come up many times before so if you search for "goback" (all one word) you should find the info you need
