When I first started playing SH3 it didn't take me long to work out that I could start the war in Sept 39 in a Type VII if I wanted to, and thereafter I never looked back to the Type II... until now. I just started a new GWX2 career (Sept 39, as always) in a Type IIA in Kiel (1st Flotilla). I was assigned to grid AN21 (Lerwick Sub Base). Nice and close!

So I go through the Kiel canal at ahead one third, and proceed directly to my patrol zone at the same speed with no interruptions. Upon my arrival there, my crew report: "Diesel fuel reserves down to 50% sir"

WHAT!?

It took me half my fuel to get here sailing in a straight line!? And that was in perfect weather mind you! WTF?

I've read in these forums that people do play using Type II's. My question is simple: HOW?
