Negative. my last encounter saw me being fired upon around 6000 meters away at night surfaced by a Kuma light cruiser when trying to chase and intercept her. second try failed again so now give up.



Note my range to target on the TDC. I was hull down at 7kts. I was not detected until my torps got within 300 yards or so of the cruiser. Note the white bow wake on the left. It can be done. Not to mention, this was a task force. Daylight surface attack is a crap shoot. ya gonna get nailed. The night time is the right time for surface/deck awash attacks.
