While we do need more ships...
Kaga, one built, Sunk 6 months into the war by planes. Not really needed, chances of being seen by a sub are slim. Poor choice, IMO.
Shinano. Sunk by a sub on a shakedown cruise. Again, one built, gets seen at sea for a few hours then sinks. Aside from a special single mission, chances of seeing her about zero. Poor choice, IMO.
Akagi? See Kaga.
Nagato? Best of the 4 choices with 2 built, but still not nearly as useful as:
Matsu Class DD (DE)
Kaibokans in a couple flavors.
Small, coastal shipping (Fox Tare, Sugar Baker, etc).
