you just need Winrar

just download the top one winrar3.71 trial and install.
dont worry about the buy me bit , after 40days in the trial all that happens is it gives you a nag screen asking if you want to buy , but it still works fine
other option is to get something like 7zip which can do rars as well and is completly free

Both of them intergrate into the shell of XP so all you have to do is right click on the rar file and chose an option.
