Default "O mein Gott, it was close" story (or maybe stories?)

Can't believe what's just happened to me in game. I have to share it.

March 23, 1940, U-52 (VIIB), at the entrance to Ofot Fjord waiting for the prey (i.e. allied shipping fleeing Narvik or allied warhips). Finallt got a contact at about midnight. Soon after saw the ship with the periscope - a fatty medium cargo, going slow/medium. Surfaced, plotted a bit to get the best solution, went much closer to identify the ship - lucky me, a Norwegian one. Prepared two torpedoes as stated in BdU orders: a magnetic under-keel one and an impact just below the water line.

Fired.

And immediately after - a thought: why is the ship going EAST?! Why no escorts around?! Why... oh why is the flag... GERMAN!!? I have problems reading flags and I should be more careful. But now, what could I do with the 2 torpedoes cutting the waves? Simply nothing. I didn't even try to pray, as I don't remember any of these. Just cursed a lot.

And what? The magnetic torpedo prematured half from to the ship. The impact one bounced off the hull. Imagine my joy... Usually I'd be angry for loss of two torpedoes, but this time I thanked the constructors that designed this crap!

That was close. :rotfl:
