1600x1200 is a 4:3 resolution, so I think you should be fine. Try it out for yourself though, it's easy to install and remove if it doesn't work
I myself run the game at 1024x768 because my machine is more fit to be an espresso machine than a personal computer, and it can't cope with anything higher :p
