The man flew fighter jets. That, even in peace time is a very dangerous profession. Maybe not as dangerous as say, Infantryman, but certainly more hazardous than sitting in an airconditioned Saigon office pushing paperwork. |
True. However, when you take into account what else was going at the time, ie the war, it is a relatively safe way to spend your time in the armed services.
Of course it's a lot safer not to show up.
