That really depends. Our dollar wasn't as worthless back then as it is today...
The dollar is simply on track. It needs to lose value to stay competitive.

Besides, since the 1940's, Congress has inacted the controlled manipulation of the dollar to be worth 5 cents on the dollar every 40 years. This is important since it helps ease the pain of paying off national debt.
