Umm, never been in SH3Cmdr. A "fudge" workaround was included up to about a year ago, but certainly that was never meant to be the ultimate solution. Indeed, as soon as Cobalt released his VIIC/41, the fudge was pulled from SH3Cmdr (in fact, come to think of it I may have even pulled it earlier - can't remember now. Certainly seems more than a year ago).
I remember that Cobalt originally released his VIIC/41 playable sub as an SH3Cmdr add-on. That method is actually more efficient than GWX2's "optional mod" implementation as SH3Cmdr automatically installed the relevant files when needed, rather than the files needing to be manually enabled by the user. But that's neither here nor there afaic. Although, when I get GWX2 running I'll be moving the VIIC/41 playable sub mod out of JSGME and into SH3Cmdr. Just one less thing to worry about then.

Umm, never been in SH3Cmdr. SH3Cmdr has always utilised the flotilla dates that exist in the game. However, one thing exclusive to SH3Cmdr is that it allows you to start new careers in any month during the life of any flotilla.

Only SH3Cmdr provides
random thermal layers. I can't recall ever reading that GWX (well, any mod for that matter) includes thermal layers
sans SH3Cmdr.
And with paint schemes, yes, the improved ship skins from the old SH3Cmdr/GWX skin pack have been rolled into GWX2, but you are forgetting that in doing so the ability to change skins based on date was lost. Whether the GWX team releases a new skin pack that takes advantage of SH3Cmdr's Date feature is up to them.

Sorry mate, not a bug, a display limitation of SH3. Certainly wouldn't classify it as a bug in either SH3Cmdr *or* GWX2.
Methinks someone needs to read up on the full feature set of SH3Cmdr before making erroneous claims.
Actually, I read your comments as a good indication as to why SH3Cmdr and GWX2 go so well together - the fact that you can't tell which does what highlights the integration of the two and the tight way they work together to enhance the player's experience.
