Is this because the limitation in SHIII mentioned on the same page (i.e., you can't earn renown in the Black Sea), or am I doing something wrong?

There is a stock
Silent Hunter III limitation that prevents GWX from displaying anything but the stock
Silent Hunter III grids. Page 174 shows the grids on a map of the Black Sea since we couldn't display them during the game.
