Official/Integral GWX mod material that we develop as a team, will be linked to from our website.
If it isn't on our website or on the first post of our sticky thread... it is not official material. Nor will we link to every mod that IS 'certified.' In so doing, the integral mass of work by the GWX dev team and crew would be lost in a snowstorm.
Also, as stated above it isn't fair to the team to expect them to examine or fix everything that is released witha declaration that it is 'compatible with GWX.' I don't think that most people here realize just how much work that they are speaking of.
All this may seem unfair, but we do not get paid for our work... which is fine... but it means that we must draw lines and boundaries.
Something that we have discussed as a team over the last few weeks:
As modders stop building mods for SH3 and instead release mods for GWX to the tune of every possible flavor and color, clear lines of demarcation must naturally be declared by the GWX dev team to preserve the integrity of the GWX mod.
Allowing it (GWX) to become formless would be a mistake.
In the end, the modder and the user must be aware of the risks they take.
The statement below should cover most eventualities:
"
Notice to Grey Wolves Expansion users:
Use of 'unofficial' add-ons for The Grey Wolves Expansion are not supported by the GWX development team and their use is NOT RECOMMENDED for the inexperienced or casual user. The Grey Wolves development team cannot be held responsible for any adverse effects caused by the subsequent modification of any files made by other modders.
We reserve the right to notify GWX users of any additional mod that breaks GWX features as part of the user support we offer, as well as to recommend a course of action to correct matters for the user.
Secondarily, we cannot be expected to fix 'unofficial' mods placed on top of GWX."
Other disclaimers, etc from the GWX Manual:
GWX is a not-for profit, non-commercial venture. Our goal is historical accuracy, (within the limitations of the SH3 platform) so please let us know if you see something is missing, or requires correction or change.
We have tried to give proper credit to sources wherever possible, so please let us know if you think we have infringed on your rights: we will be happy to correct it to your satisfaction.
We have dedicated this modification package to the enhancement and enjoyment of World War II submarine simulations,
NOT the promotion of ANY political or philosophical views.
