For the most part thats what I like to do too, for instance I'll go up the ladder to the bridge(s-class)and when I come ddown the ladder I like it to appear that i am at the top and coming down, which that is already in place when moving from bride to control room and back, however if you walk to the periscope use it and come back you are in the default position... so what I found is that if you use F8 or radar and then right click it will put you back where you left off at. I.E walk over to attack periscope raise it hit "F4" look around a bit, when you are done hit F8 (it moves you to the other station) then quickly right click and you are standing in front of the attack parascope where you started. if you get fast enough at it you hardly realize that you are at the sound station lol but it works for me and helps to ad some immersion, though I too would like it to where poof you were just back at where you left off at.
