The Deutsche Versicherungsbank GmbH ("German Insurance Bank, Inc.") issued postage stamps for the company that operated the merchant U-boats, Deutsche Ozean-Reederei ("German Ocean Shipping Company"), on September 18, 1916 with the permission of the German Post Office. The stamps combined postage and insurance premium in their nominal value; the value of the postage was transferred later to the postal administration. These stamps promise highly stable value in editions of between 200 to 1000 copies.
