Thanks, firstly to the team, for what must have been 1,000's of man-hours in developement, coding and discussions - truely an amazing commitment to produce a 1Gb mod! Super indeed. Thanks also, to those who answered my initial enquiry about what to do, and in what order - made sense.
Just started with Naval Academy - I'm even enjoying that! (Weird, I know.)
Couple of things I've noticed that may be worth looking at if a further patch is ever contemplated. (Tell me to deep six myself if its too impertinent - I come from the school of Kaisan - the Japanese model of continual improvement - nothing is ever perfect, or 'finished', but at some point you do have to say 'enough' and get it out there (thank God you did).)
- In starting up the Navigation section, I hit 'Training', then 'View Tutorial' in quick succession - I thought it may be better to see Tutorial first. They both try to open together, so you have Realplayer voiceover going while the Training screen is opening. No biggy, but correctable (?) if you ever go back for more.
- Next, in Navigation, there are four objectives. The second (Navigate through the channel) never changes to 'Complete' on the 'Objectives' folder or in the after exam summary (even though I repeated the exercise 4 times). I alway got an "Excellent" rating, but tried zig-zagging to ensure maximum depth under keel; went all the way to the Ostsee on one run; went all the way to the Skagerrak on another. Decided that 3 out of four wasn't bad & went on to Shooting Things (liked that bit - nice bits flying off - even splashes in the water afterwards. Luverly!)
- Although at regular intervals there is an "Incoming Radio Message" announcement, I can never find them. There is no change on the 'Objectives' folder, and the Radio Man only has three folders: Report Contacts; Send Contact Report; and Send Patrol Report. There are no radio messages in the Report Contacts folder (because the radio message isn't reporting a contact, rather, its giving instructions, weather etc??)
Press "M " to see messages- I lose deck-gun sounds when I go above 1x Time Compression. Normal?
Yep - all sounds usually disapear at TC- I also get the centre-screen dark triangular flashes (lasting way less than a second). Looks almost like the bow of a sub on the surface as seen from the bridge as it rises up the face of a big wave in stormy weather. (I'm using a Raedon 9250 card). Will try the 'Synchronise' setting in the Options panel - see if it helps.
- I may have missed them, but I do miss the hot-keys from previous games (SHI & SHII) for Crash dive 'C' (?), Blow Main Ballast 'B' (?) and, especially, incremental rudder control (5 degree increments port or starboard). I found this precise rudder control more user friendly than the current hard a'port or hard a'starboard on the square brackets. Is there a user hot-key setting override that I could implement for this?
Press "C" for crash dive and "E" for ballast blow
You dont need to use the hard port\starboard controls - click on the little dot left of the bottom compass and you can move your rudder through that
These are definately NOT bitches. I love what you have all done, and can live with all of the above, but would love to see all these minor things answered in one way or another over time to bring further glory to your Wolfpacks wherever they may prowl.
Good Hunting
